Counseling
After Miscarriage
If
you would like to talk with a trained, caring volunteer
about your miscarriage(s), please call 817.577.4387
and make an appointment to come into the center. We
are experienced in walking with women through a healing
journey after experiencing a miscarriage.
For
many, there is no significant difference in the intensity
of grief for a miscarriage, stillbirth or death of
a new-born. Even if the miscarriage is in early stages
of pregnancy, intense grieving can occur.
Approximately
20-30% of all conceptions end in miscarriage. Sometimes,
the woman doesn't yet know she is pregnant. However,
if she does, there can be intense feelings that trouble
her (and often her partner as well) after this experience.
Well-meaning friends, relatives and professionals
often mishandle their reactions to the grieving parent(s).
There
are things you can do to get through this hard time,
both looking after yourself and guiding other people
to provide the support you need.
Our
trained volunteer counselors will listen to you share
about what happened and how you are currently dealing
with it. They can talk with you about the feelings
and thoughts that are common after a childbearing
loss such as miscarriage. They will offer you steps
to transition from grieving to wholeness. They will
offer you suggestions for releasing your child and
moving on with your life.
Men
whose wives/partners experienced miscarriage are also
welcome to participate, either alone or with their
wives/partners. We know that men usually grieve differently
from women and we respect that difference.
All
counseling is confidential and free of charge. We
look forward to being of help to you in this painful
time. For
